Translation from an intercultural perspective
Issue 16/2024 of “Translationes”
journal aims to explore various aspects of translation
research starting from the central theme, to which other areas of
interest and topicality
are added:
1) translation in an intercultural perspective:
theoretical-applicative aspects regarding
translation as an act of intercultural communication; bilingualism,
plurilingualism, self-
translation and linguistic conflicts; translation and mediation in the
language policy of
the European Union; the didactic role of translation in teaching and
learning foreign
languages; intercultural pragmatics and the problems of transposing a
text from one
culture to another (untranslatability, fidelity, creativity, language
transfer strategies,
case studies).
2) the impact of computerization and digitization on the
field of translation: advantages,
risks, challenges (research and exploitation of databases and online
platforms,
exploration of techniques and methods of automatic translation
generation, combining
digital efficiency with human skill in the post-editing of machine
translation).
3) research of the recent history of Romanian translations
(from 1990 to the present
day), through quantitative and qualitative data analysis (translation
fields, authors,
editors, translators).
Against this broad
thematic background, the Editorial Office invites all those interested
to send publication proposals for the following sections:
1)
TRANSLATION STUDIES in five languages: English, French, German, Italian,
Spanish (with an abstract in English and in the language of the
article).
2)
INTERVIEWS with translators and translation experts from the
above-mentioned
linguistic areas.
3) REVIEWS of
translated volumes and specialized books.
4) UNIQUE
LITERARY TRANSLATIONS: from English, French, German, Italian,
Spanish and Latin into Romanian (the original and the translation into
Romanian must
occur on separate pages).
The studies and articles submitted must comply with the
editorial rules of the journal:
