ISTTRAROM–TRANSLATIONES

 

 

ISTTRAROM Research Center in Translation and the History of Romanian Translation, since 2009, ISTTRAROM–TRANSLATIONES, was set up in 2005, at the initiative of professor Georgiana Lungu-Badea. It gathers researchers and teachers at the departments of the Faculty of Letters, History and Theology, the University of the West, Timişoara, interested in studying te forms of translation and the history of Romanian translation.

 

General objective :

 

The main objective of the ISTTRAROM–TRANSLATIONES research group ist o establish the link between the theories of translation, the practice and the tradition of translation so that translations schemes should become more flexible.

 

ISTTRAROM aspires at contributing to a climate appropriate to information exchange and to cultivating translation and traductology experiences.

Specific objectives:

Through its programmes, ISTTRAROM–TRANSLATIONES aims at:

A)    Researching themes specific to contemporary traductology regarding synchronic and diacronic aspects of literary translation.

B)     Studying translation as cultural transfer practice.

C)     Organizing seminars, conferences, research projects, book launches.

D)    Publishing research results.

E)    Publishing collective translations made by the MA translation studies students, coordinated by teachers at the University of the West.
